Batavia Haven, situated on Lelystad‘s Markermeer coast, is a new residential area currently emerging around a crescent-shaped harbour, which was constructed as part of the project. The basis for the planning for the “Ontwikkelings Combinatie Bataviahaven” is an urban design drawn up in collaboration with Rabo Vastgoed and Wissing Stedenbouw which proposes 450 apartments in five blocks. A great variety of dwellings are being offered, including apartments and penthouses with a water view, two-storey studio apartments as well as townhouses with gardens. Shops and restaurants are situated on the ground floors of the buildings along the 500 metre long harbour boulevard. Block 1, comprising 2,500 sqm of commercial space and 94 apartments, was completed in 2009. The Dutch architects Molenaar & Van Winden and Attika were responsible for the architectural design of the townhouses.
