„Kak Zhit / Ways of Living“ – 1st Moscow Architecture Biennale

1st Moscow Architecture Biennale – from May 26 to June 22, 2008.

As one of 15 architectural practices from various countries Krier Kohl Architects have been invited to present their work at the 1st Moscow Architecture Biennale from May 26 to June 22, 2008 in order to show how they approach the problem of mass housing.

The question of mass housing has been one of the most urgent problems for Russia in the last decades. This is the result of a growing demand for housing from the middle class and a stag-nating housing production. Since there are no other low-cost alternatives, there is a revival of the construction of uniform Soviet-style pre-cast concrete panel housing. The aim of the Moscow Architecture Biennale is to show best practices in how the question of mass housing is solved in other parts of the world, and that it is possible to create rich and differentiated urban environments.
